During the three-day JATA World Travel Fair, Japanese interest in the Chamorro culture grew with a performance from the Guam Chamorro Dance Academy. This year, 40 students from the academy will serve as a guest delegation at the Guam Micronesia Island Fair (GMIF) from Oct. 14-17, 2010. The
group is expected to showcase the Chamorro dances they learned during GCDA with Dance Master Frank Rabon.

“Overall, our presence at this event was a huge success,” Perez said. “We’re projecting larger numbers from Japan at our local signature events including GMIF, the 2010 Guam Ko’ko’ Road Race, and the Guam Island Fiesta Tour. Local promotions like those allow visitors to interact with local residents and
to experience local island hospitality so valuable in encouraging repeat visits.”
